From the airport to Tromsø city center

The airport of Tromsø, officially known as Tromsø Airport Langnes – TOS, is located on the island of Tromsøya, about 5 km northwest of Tromsø city center in Norway. The airport is well connected to the city by buses, taxis, and rental cars. To get from Tromsø Airport to your hotel in downtown Tromsø, you have four options:

Option 1: Airport Express Tromsø

The most commonly used transport option from the airport is the Airport Express Bus, which takes about 15 minutes to reach the city center and stops at several major hotels.

• Tickets cost NOK 125 one way (about € 11) or NOK 200 return (about € 17). You can buy tickets in advance via the official website, but you can also pay directly to the driver.
• The ride takes 15 minutes. Departure times are coordinated with flight arrivals, but on average this means 1 or 2 buses per hour.
• You will find the red airport shuttle bus (Flybussen operated by Bussring) right next to the main entrance at the domestic arrivals hall at Tromsø Airport.
• There are four possible stops to get on or off: Moxy Hotel – Scandic Grand Hotel – Prosneset – Scandic Ishavhotel (view exact route and schedule).

Option 2: Public buses

By public bus: City buses (line 40 or 42) are a cheaper option than the Airport Express buses, but they may take a bit longer. Tickets can be purchased via the Troms Mobillett app or at a ticket machine at the bus stop.

Option 3: Taxi from the airport

By taxi: A taxi from Tromsø Airport to the city center usually takes around 10 minutes. A taxi ride to the center generally costs between NOK 250 and 350 (approximately € 22 to € 30), depending on the time of day and any additional charges such as night fees or luggage fees.
